Xiaomi Unveils Redmi 17 Series With 7,500mAh Battery and 5G Option

Xiaomi has officially launched the new Redmi 17 series, introducing the Redmi 17 4G and Redmi 17 5G as successors to last year’s Redmi 15 lineup.

Both smartphones feature a large 6.9-inch IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1600 × 720-pixel resolution. They are also equipped with a massive 7,500mAh battery, supporting 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

The major difference between the two models is their processors. The Redmi 17 4G runs on the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra chipset, while the Redmi 17 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor.

Both models come with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. However, the 4G version uses slower eMMC 5.1 storage, while the 5G model benefits from faster UFS 2.2 storage.

For photography, the Redmi 17 series features a 50MP main rear camera and an 8MP front-facing selfie camera. Xiaomi has also added a programmable RGB light on the rear, which can display notifications and system status alerts.

Other features include IP64 dust and water resistance, NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Redmi 17 4G is available in Black, Deep Blue, Lotus Purple and Oak Green, with prices starting at MYR 669 (around $163) in Malaysia.

The Redmi 17 5G comes in Black, Deep Blue and Vivid Orange, starting at MYR 769 (around $188).

With its huge battery, 120Hz display and affordable pricing, the Redmi 17 series is positioned as an attractive option for users looking for long battery life and modern smartphone features at a budget-friendly price.
