Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have arrested four suspected collaborators of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during separate intelligence-led operations in Yobe and Borno states.
The military also intercepted 20 suspected family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), who were reportedly fleeing a terrorist enclave in Borno following sustained military offensives.
According to the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, troops of the 159 Battalion carried out a cordon-and-search operation in Geidam, Yobe State, on August 3, based on credible intelligence. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspected Boko Haram collaborators.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly supplied hard drugs and other logistics to Boko Haram fighters.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops of Sector 3 Garrison, working alongside the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion, arrested two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers in Monguno, Borno State. The suspects reportedly admitted during interrogation that they supplied food and other essential materials to ISWAP fighters operating in Kwatan Dowoshi village, Kukawa Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, troops of the 222 Battalion intercepted 20 suspected family members of JAS terrorists during a routine patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The group consisted of nine women, two men, eight female minors, and one male minor. Military authorities said the individuals informed investigators that they fled the Gezuwa area due to ongoing military operations targeting terrorist hideouts.
The arrests and interceptions are part of the military's continued efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and cut off logistical support for insurgent groups in Nigeria's North-East.
