Edo Government Denies Banning Davido

The Edo State Government has dismissed reports that Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been banned from entering the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kassim Afegbua, described the report as false and said the state government had nothing to do with the alleged ban.

According to him, Edo State remains open to everyone, regardless of political affiliation, beliefs or other associations.

Afegbua said Davido, whose mother is from Edo State, is regarded as one of the state’s illustrious sons. He added that if the singer decides to visit or perform in Edo in the future, the government would be willing to welcome and work with him.

The commissioner also said any political disagreements involving Davido during the recent Osun State election were purely political and should not be interpreted as a personal dispute.

He praised Davido as one of Nigeria’s global ambassadors, saying the musician has helped promote Nigeria internationally through his music and has built bridges across different social and political groups.

The Edo Government therefore urged the public to disregard the report claiming that Davido had been prohibited from entering the state.
