The Bauchi State Local Government Service Commission has commenced its 2026 promotion examinations for employees across the state’s 20 local government areas.
The examination is being conducted at the examination halls of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), Bauchi, for workers on Grade Levels 08–09, 10–12, and 13 and above.
Speaking during an inspection of the examination venue, the chairman of the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Wabi, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and commended both candidates and officials for their preparedness.
Wabi explained that the commission organises promotional examinations annually as part of its efforts to promote career advancement, professional development and improved efficiency within the local government service.
He disclosed that a two-day revision class had been organised for candidates ahead of the examination to help them prepare adequately.
The chairman urged the candidates to perform to the best of their abilities, stressing that promotions would be based on merit, competence and strict compliance with civil service regulations.
He also assured participants that the commission would maintain fairness, transparency and credibility throughout the promotion process.
The permanent secretary of the commission, Alhaji Kani Muhammad, commended the Bauchi State Government under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for its continued support for staff development and career progression.
Kani urged the candidates to maintain discipline and integrity, warning them against examination malpractice.
He said promotion in the civil service was earned through hard work, commitment and integrity, adding that the examination was designed to assess workers’ readiness to take on higher responsibilities.
The permanent secretary further assured the candidates that the marking and processing of results would be carried out promptly. He added that promotions would depend on candidates’ performance, merit and the availability of vacancies.
Senior officials of the commission accompanied the chairman and permanent secretary during the inspection of the examination halls, where they interacted with candidates and monitored the smooth conduct of the exercise.
External invigilators and commission officials were also deployed to supervise the examination, ensure compliance with established guidelines and safeguard the credibility and transparency of the process.
