Adeleke Wins 19 LGAs as APC’s Oyebamiji Takes 11 in Osun Governorship Election

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has won 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas in Saturday’s governorship election, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, secured 11 LGAs.

Adeleke is awaiting the official declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the completion of the collation of results on Sunday.

A total of 15 political parties contested the election, but the major battle was between Adeleke’s Accord Party and the APC.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished a distant third with 14,989 votes.

The final declaration is expected to be made by the Returning Officer, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, at the INEC state collation centre in Osogbo.

Results by Local Government Area

Adeleke recorded strong performances in several LGAs, including Ede South, Ife North, Ife Central, Osogbo, Ife East, Ifelodun, Iwo and Ede North.

Oyebamiji, however, secured victories in LGAs including Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Irewole, Atakumosa West, Atakumosa East, Olaoluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.

The results showed a closely contested election in several other LGAs, with both candidates recording narrow margins in some areas.

The election featured substantial voter participation across the state, with thousands of accredited voters casting their ballots in each of the 30 LGAs.

The official winner of the Osun State governorship election will be confirmed by INEC after the Returning Officer makes the final declaration.
