The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured prospective candidates that the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration process will be faster, easier and less stressful than the 2026 exercise.
JAMB Registrar, Segun Aina, gave the assurance following the board’s inaugural meeting held on August 3, where officials discussed measures to address challenges experienced by candidates during the previous registration exercise.
According to Aina, JAMB is introducing a new pre-registration mobile platform that will allow candidates to begin their registration from the comfort of their homes using their mobile phones.
The platform is expected to support faster sign-ups, offline data collection and instant validation of candidates’ information. It will also help reduce communication errors and other difficulties associated with the registration process.
Aina explained that the system would be capable of scanning and identifying documents, thereby reducing cases of incorrect data entry and other irregularities.
He urged JAMB staff to ensure that the registration process does not become a source of unnecessary stress for candidates.
The registrar said the board would continue to simplify its procedures, improve communication, strengthen customer support and adopt technology to make its services more efficient and transparent.
JAMB said the new system is part of its efforts to modernise the registration process and bring it closer to international standards.
When fully operational, the main registration process, which currently takes about 20 minutes, is expected to be completed in just two to three minutes.
