Ukraine has stepped up its military campaign against Russian-controlled Crimea, targeting key fuel and electricity infrastructure in what officials describe as an effort to weaken Russia's war capabilities.
The operation, codenamed "Molochka," has focused on disrupting fuel deliveries to the peninsula by striking oil tankers, storage facilities, ferries and electricity substations. Ukrainian officials say the attacks are designed to cut off Russian military logistics and reduce Moscow's ability to sustain its forces.
Russian-installed authorities in Crimea have acknowledged widespread fuel shortages and power outages. Crimea's occupation governor, Sergey Aksyonov, warned that there is no clear timeline for restoring normal fuel supplies or electricity, despite emergency support from Moscow.
Ukraine also claims it has expanded long-range drone strikes deep inside Russia, hitting several oil refineries and fuel depots. Kyiv says the campaign aims to reduce Russia's refining capacity, disrupt military supplies and limit revenue from fossil fuel exports.
Russian officials have condemned the attacks, accusing Ukraine of targeting civilian infrastructure and describing the operations as acts of terrorism. Moscow, however, admits that refinery disruptions have contributed to fuel supply problems.
On the battlefield, Ukraine says Russia's pace of territorial gains has slowed significantly this year, while Kyiv continues to increase production of drones and precision weapons with support from European allies.
Despite recent military successes, Ukrainian military leaders caution that the war remains far from over, with both sides expected to continue heavy fighting in the months ahead.
