US President Donald Trump has vowed to intensify military action against Iran following fresh missile attacks targeting American military installations in the Middle East.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Trump warned that Iran would face a severe response, promising to "hit them hard" after the latest strikes on US forces.
The renewed tensions come after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for launching missiles at a US military base and a US Central Command (CENTCOM) facility in Jordan. Iranian officials said the attacks were in response to continued US military operations against the country.
According to CENTCOM, all incoming missiles were intercepted, and no casualties were reported. The command said American forces remain on high alert and prepared for any further threats.
The latest attack follows the deaths of three US soldiers in Jordan earlier this month, an incident that has further escalated the conflict between Washington and Tehran.
Trump's remarks also came shortly after his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, where both leaders reportedly discussed the ongoing conflict and their shared objective of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
While Israel has continued to push for stronger military action against Iran, the Trump administration has at times signaled support for temporary ceasefires alongside threats of renewed military operations.
The conflict, which has continued for months despite previous ceasefire efforts, has raised concerns over regional stability and the possibility of a broader war across the Middle East.
Meanwhile, opinion polls in the United States indicate that public support for the conflict remains low, with many Americans expressing concerns about rising economic costs and the risk of prolonged military involvement.
