Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be seated close to United States President Donald Trump during the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York this September.
Speaking to journalists after meeting President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Ibrahim said the Nigerian leader has been assigned a front-row seat near Trump during the General Debate, although he did not confirm whether the two presidents would hold a bilateral meeting.
He said President Tinubu will use the global gathering to highlight his administration's achievements over the past three years and present Nigeria's reform agenda to world leaders.
The ambassador also disclosed that Tinubu plans to seek stronger collaboration with the United Nations on border security across West Africa to tackle cross-border crimes and regional insecurity.
According to Ibrahim, the President will participate in several high-level side events focusing on energy, education, and healthcare, while promoting Nigeria's commitment to regional peace, security, and sustainable development.
