Tinubu Approves New Army Battalion to Boost Security in Kwara

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new Nigerian Army battalion in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, to strengthen security and combat rising criminal activities.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Mashood AbdulRafiu Agboola.

According to the statement, the new military formation will improve security operations in areas affected by banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other violent crimes.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq welcomed the approval, describing it as a major step toward enhancing the state's security architecture. He thanked President Tinubu for responding to the state's request and also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for facilitating the approval.

The governor said the deployment of additional troops and military equipment would strengthen ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping operations across the state.

He also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies for their continued collaboration in addressing insecurity.

Governor AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting security agencies in protecting lives and property, while ensuring lasting peace and safety for residents of Kwara State.
