At least one person was killed, another abducted, and several others injured after suspected terrorists attacked Wande community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Wednesday night.
According to residents, the attackers stormed the community, opened fire on villagers, and fled after kidnapping one resident. Several people sustained injuries during the assault.
One survivor said he suffered a serious head injury after being struck with the butt of a gun by the attackers, while another victim who was shot was rushed to a hospital in Igbaja for treatment.
Residents expressed concern over the worsening security situation in Kwara South, saying repeated attacks by armed groups have forced many communities to abandon their homes.
A security source said the attackers are believed to be members of a terrorist group that had earlier clashed with security operatives in Yaru town before retreating towards Wande, where they later carried out the attack.
The latest incident has renewed concerns over the growing insecurity in Kwara State, particularly in the southern region, despite ongoing security operations aimed at curbing terrorist and bandit activities.
Authorities had not issued an official statement on the attack as of the time of filing this report.
