The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has killed dozens of Boko Haram terrorists during a precision airstrike on the group's hideouts in Yaganari, Borno State.
According to a statement by NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was carried out on Saturday after intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist camps and logistics bases in the area.
Ejodame said the airstrike destroyed several terrorist hideouts, while many insurgents were killed and others escaped with injuries. Troops also recovered improvised explosive devices (IEDs), as well as a large cache of weapons and ammunition during the operation.
He described the mission as a significant success in Nigeria's ongoing counterterrorism campaign, noting that it has further weakened Boko Haram's ability to regroup and launch attacks.
Boko Haram has waged an insurgency in northeastern Nigeria since the early 2000s, with the conflict intensifying in 2009. The violence has claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced hundreds of thousands of people across Nigeria and parts of Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.
Security operations against the terrorist group continue as Nigerian forces intensify efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
