The Federal Government of Nigeria has called for calm and immediate de-escalation following renewed tensions between Yemen's Houthi movement and Saudi Arabia, warning that further hostilities could worsen instability across the Middle East.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid retaliatory actions, and embrace dialogue as the best path to resolving the crisis.
The ministry stressed that escalating violence could threaten civilian lives, undermine regional peace, and create broader security challenges. It reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, international law, and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Nigeria also expressed concern over the humanitarian impact of the prolonged conflict in Yemen, noting that millions of people have been affected by displacement, food shortages, and limited access to healthcare.
The government reiterated its support for diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring lasting peace, while calling on regional and international stakeholders to prioritize dialogue over confrontation.
