The Jigawa State Government has prohibited graduation ceremonies and similar celebrations in all senior secondary schools across the state as part of efforts to promote discipline and maintain public order.
The directive was announced in a circular issued by the Jigawa State Senior Secondary School Education Board (JSSSEB) and sent to principals, proprietors, and school directors across the state.
According to the board, the decision was prompted by increasing cases of unauthorized street processions, public disturbances, and other acts of indiscipline linked to graduation celebrations after students complete their Senior Secondary School Examinations.
School authorities have been instructed to immediately stop organizing or participating in graduation ceremonies and related events for graduating students.
The board warned that both public and private schools that violate the directive will face disciplinary and administrative sanctions in line with its regulations.
JSSSEB urged all school administrators to strictly comply with the order, expressing confidence that the policy will help maintain discipline, protect public order, and encourage responsible behavior among students.
