Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Navy has intercepted and turned back six vessels that attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz using routes not authorized by Iranian authorities, according to Iranian state television.
A state TV correspondent reported that the ships were stopped overnight after warning shots were fired by the IRGC Navy, forcing them to return. Iranian officials said the vessels had tried to navigate outside the designated maritime channels.
Earlier reports from state media mentioned that one vessel was involved in an unspecified incident, but no further details were provided.
The latest action follows a similar operation on Saturday, when Iranian forces said they stopped four vessels attempting to cross the southern section of the Strait of Hormuz after firing warning shots.
