Shareholders of BUA Foods Plc have approved a record dividend payout of ₦504 billion ($363 million) at the company's fifth Annual General Meeting held in Abuja.
The approved final dividend of ₦28 per ordinary share represents a 115 percent increase from the ₦13 per share paid the previous year. The decision follows a strong financial performance, with the company's profit after tax rising by 95 percent to ₦518.4 billion, while revenue increased by 16 percent to ₦1.77 trillion in the 2025 financial year.
BUA Foods attributed its growth to sustained demand for essential food products, including sugar, pasta and flour, despite inflationary pressures and the depreciation of the naira.
Chairman Abdulsamad Rabiu, who owns about 90 percent of the company through BUA Group, is expected to receive approximately $323 million from the dividend distribution, making it one of the largest shareholder payouts by a company listed on the Nigerian Exchange.
During the meeting, Rabiu also unveiled plans to expand the company's operations by increasing wheat milling capacity, completing its edible oils project, and entering the noodles market. He said the expansion is aimed at making BUA Foods Nigeria's largest food manufacturing company while strengthening local food production and supporting the country's long-term food security goals.
