Bandits Abduct Kebbi State High Court Judge

A judge of the Kebbi State High Court, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been abducted by suspected bandits following an attack on his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

According to local sources, the gunmen stormed the judge's home shortly after midnight on Sunday, shortly after he returned from a trip to Sokoto. The attackers reportedly fired several gunshots before taking him away. No other member of the household was injured during the incident.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the abduction. Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman said the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, immediately deployed tactical and intelligence teams to launch a rescue operation.

"Our personnel are combing identified locations, including nearby forest areas, to ensure that Justice Bunza is rescued safely and unharmed," the police spokesperson said.

A senior official of the Kebbi State High Court, who requested anonymity, described the incident as a tragic development for the judiciary. The official said the court's management has already met with security agencies to coordinate efforts aimed at securing the judge's immediate release.

As of the time of filing this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, while security agencies continue intensive search and rescue operations.
