Israeli Military Intensifies West Bank Raids as Settler Violence Escalates

Israeli forces have expanded military operations across the occupied West Bank following a deadly confrontation near Nablus that left four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers dead. The operation, ordered by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has resulted in widespread raids, arrests, and tighter security measures across several Palestinian communities.

According to Palestinian officials, dozens of Palestinians were detained during overnight operations in areas including Tal, Ramallah, Jenin, Hebron, Bethlehem, and Tulkarem. Israeli authorities said the raids were aimed at identifying suspects linked to Friday's deadly gunfight.

Violence involving Israeli settlers also intensified over the weekend. Palestinian residents reported that settlers attacked villages, vandalized property, and attempted to set fire to two mosques in Qusra and Kour. Graffiti was sprayed on buildings, and local officials said worshippers managed to extinguish one of the fires before major damage occurred.

Witnesses and the Palestine Red Crescent Society also reported assaults on civilians and medical personnel during Israeli military operations in several locations, including Rafidia, Huwara, and Masafer Yatta.

The Israeli military said it raided homes belonging to individuals suspected of involvement in the clash and was preparing to temporarily seal some properties as a step toward possible demolition. Israel maintains that such measures are part of its security policy, while human rights organizations argue that the practice amounts to collective punishment.

The United Nations and several international rights groups have repeatedly expressed concern over rising violence in the occupied West Bank, citing limited accountability for attacks carried out by Israeli settlers and the increasing number of military operations in Palestinian communities.

The latest escalation comes amid growing political tensions in Israel ahead of the country's upcoming general elections, while protests against settler violence and military actions have also taken place in Tel Aviv, where police arrested several demonstrators.
