Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has suspended 21 Umrah service companies after inspections revealed failures in service quality and violations of regulatory requirements during the previous Umrah season.
According to the ministry, 15 companies were suspended for failing to meet the minimum performance standards, while six others were penalized for committing regulatory breaches that required corrective action.
Officials said the decision reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that pilgrims receive high-quality services throughout their religious journey.
The ministry explained that its evaluation system measures companies based on operational efficiency, service quality, and compliance with regulations. The system is intended to promote healthy competition among service providers and raise overall standards in the sector.
Authorities stressed that they will continue to strictly enforce regulations and take action against any company whose shortcomings negatively affect pilgrims or compromise their rights.
The ministry added that continuous monitoring and assessment of Umrah operators remain essential to improving services and achieving the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to enhance the experience of pilgrims visiting the holy sites and the Prophet’s Mosque.
The move underscores Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight of the Umrah sector and ensure a safer, more efficient pilgrimage experience for millions of visitors each year.
