Samsung Set to Deliver Free One UI 9 Upgrade to Millions of Galaxy Users

Samsung is accelerating the rollout of its next-generation software, One UI 9, with millions of Galaxy smartphone users expected to receive the free upgrade later this year.

The company is currently testing One UI 9 on several devices, including the flagship Galaxy S25 series, as well as mid-range and budget models such as the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A17. The software is expected to debut officially on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 when Samsung unveils its latest foldable smartphones in July.

Industry sources indicate that Samsung has moved quickly with development, expanding testing beyond flagship devices only weeks after launching the One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy S26 series.

New Features and AI Enhancements

One UI 9 introduces a range of new features designed to improve productivity, accessibility, security, and personalization.

Samsung Notes will gain additional customization tools, while the Contacts application will integrate more closely with Creative Studio for personalized profile creation. The Quick Panel has also been redesigned, giving users greater control over brightness, audio, and media settings.

Accessibility improvements include enhanced TalkBack functionality, adjustable Mouse Key controls, and a new Text Spotlight feature that makes reading selected text easier.

Security upgrades will automatically warn users about potentially dangerous applications and block suspicious installations.

Galaxy AI Gets Smarter

Samsung is also expanding its Galaxy AI ecosystem with new features such as Prioritise, which highlights important notifications, and Summarise, which condenses lengthy conversations into short overviews.

The company is expected to introduce additional AI-powered capabilities when One UI 9 launches globally, including advanced tools based on Google's Gemini Intelligence platform.

More Devices Added to Eligibility List

Samsung has reportedly expanded the list of devices expected to receive One UI 9. Eligible smartphones include the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S26 series, Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models from recent generations, and several Galaxy A-series devices, including the A57, A56, A55, A54, A25, A24, A17, A16, A15, and A07.

The stable version of One UI 9 is expected to begin rolling out in the second half of 2026 following the launch of Samsung's newest foldable smartphones.

Users can check for updates by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install once the rollout begins in their region.
