Samsung's Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A17 have emerged as two of the company's most affordable smartphones, but a recent comparison suggests the Galaxy A37 offers significant advantages for users willing to spend a little more.
With a price difference of around $100, the Galaxy A37 delivers several upgrades over the Galaxy A17, including a faster processor, smoother display, improved cameras, and quicker charging speeds.
Both smartphones feature large 6.7-inch Super AMOLED displays with Full HD+ resolution and 5,000mAh batteries. However, the Galaxy A37 stands out with a 120Hz refresh rate compared to the A17's 90Hz panel, providing a smoother viewing and scrolling experience.
Under the hood, the Galaxy A37 is powered by Samsung's Exynos 1480 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM, while the Galaxy A17 uses the less powerful Exynos 1330 processor with a maximum of 8GB of RAM. The A37 also utilizes faster UFS 3.1 storage technology.
Camera performance is another area where the Galaxy A37 takes the lead. Both devices feature 50-megapixel primary cameras, but the A37's larger sensor captures more detail and performs better in low-light conditions. It also includes an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 5-megapixel macro lens, compared to the A17's 5-megapixel ultra-wide and 2-megapixel macro cameras.
Battery capacity remains identical on both phones, but the Galaxy A37 supports faster 45W wired charging, while the Galaxy A17 is limited to 25W charging.
In terms of design, the two devices share a similar appearance, although the Galaxy A37 features slimmer bezels, a more premium glass back panel, and a brighter display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+.
Analysts say the Galaxy A37 offers better overall value for users seeking stronger performance, enhanced camera quality, and a smoother user experience, while the Galaxy A17 remains a budget-friendly option for those prioritizing affordability.
As competition intensifies in the mid-range smartphone market, Samsung continues to expand its Galaxy A lineup with devices aimed at balancing performance, features, and price.
