The Benue State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects over the killing of the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Mohammed.

Police spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, said in a statement on Sunday that the arrests followed intelligence-led operations and tactical efforts by security personnel.

According to the command, the suspects were apprehended on June 27, 2026, during a coordinated operation in the Otukpo area of Benue State.

The arrested suspects were identified as Titus Thyodenda, 25; Utibe Sam, 20; Owoicho Ameh, 18; Sunday Useni, 21; Sunday Ogbanje, 46; Daniel Raphael, 23; Adokole John, 24; Samuel Ogazi, 32; Agbo Daniel, 25; and Onazi James, 30.

Mohammed and his friend, Yakubu Isah, were killed on Friday after attending a peace meeting organised by community leaders and security officials in Ohinmini Local Government Area.

The two men were reportedly attacked by gunmen at Okudu village in Otukpo Local Government Area while returning from the meeting.

The incident has increased concerns over security challenges and recurring attacks in some communities across the state.

Benue State Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the officers involved in the operation and assured the public that investigations were ongoing.

He added that efforts were being intensified to arrest other individuals connected to the crime and bring all suspects to justice.

The police urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and provide information that could assist ongoing investigations.
