Pakistan Forces Kill 29 Militants in Border Operation Near Afghanistan

Pakistani security forces have killed 29 militants during a ground operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, officials said.

The operation was launched following several militant attacks across Pakistan, including an assault on a paramilitary Rangers headquarters in Karachi that killed three soldiers.

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a high-value militant commander and three others were killed.

Officials said the military later carried out targeted strikes against militant hideouts linked to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al-Khwarij in Afghanistan’s Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces, killing 25 more fighters.

The government said weapons and ammunition stored at the targeted locations were also destroyed.

Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban government of allowing militants, especially the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), to operate from Afghan territory. Kabul has rejected the allegations.

The latest clashes come amid rising militant attacks targeting security forces in Pakistan.
