Father and Son Rescued Alive After Four Days Trapped Under Earthquake Rubble in Venezuela

A father and his son have been rescued alive after spending four days trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed building following powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela.

The dramatic rescue on Sunday brought renewed hope to rescue teams searching for survivors amid widespread destruction. The pair were found in La Guaira, one of the worst-affected coastal areas.

Rescuers carried the two men, who appeared weak but conscious, through streets filled with debris before taking them to an ambulance for medical attention.

The rescue operation took about 12 hours as teams used advanced search cameras and carefully removed unstable rubble to reach them safely.

A member of the French Civil Security team said the victims were in a very weak condition after being trapped for four days and were receiving fluids and medication during the extraction.

International rescue teams, including French Civil Security personnel and American urban search-and-rescue specialists, have been working around the clock to find survivors.

At least 33 people were rescued over the weekend, but thousands remain missing after the earthquakes, which reportedly killed at least 1,450 people.

Experts say the chances of finding survivors decrease significantly after 72 hours under collapsed structures, making the father-and-son rescue a rare and hopeful outcome.
