NAHCON shifts return flights for Nigerian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia to June 3

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a new schedule for the return of Nigerian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia, moving the start of the airlift operation to Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The commission initially planned for return flights to begin later, but officials said the timetable was adjusted due to airline scheduling and approvals from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), which assigns flight slots to carriers operating the Hajj airlift.

According to NAHCON’s Head of Aviation, Alhaji Habib Bello, different airlines will begin operations on staggered dates. Max Air is expected to kick off the return journey on June 3 with pilgrims from Nasarawa State, while Flynas and Air Peace are scheduled to begin operations on June 4, transporting pilgrims from Ogun and Oyo States respectively.

Bello advised pilgrims to strictly follow baggage regulations—two checked bags of 23kg each and one 8kg hand luggage—to avoid delays or removal from flight lists. He also urged pilgrims to inform officials at least 48 hours before departure to ensure smooth processing of passports, luggage, and travel arrangements.

Officials also confirmed that passport management and documentation processes are being handled centrally to prevent loss or delays, with emergency travel arrangements available where necessary.

NAHCON appealed for continued cooperation from pilgrims and state officials to ensure an orderly and efficient return exercise.
