The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that the first group of pilgrims from the state who participated in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage will return from Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the board's Press Secretary, Mrs. Jumoke Jimoh, preparations have been finalized to receive the returning pilgrims at the Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport.
The board's Executive Secretary, Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, disclosed that 560 pilgrims are expected to arrive aboard a MaxAir flight on June 7.
He explained that the return operation has been carefully arranged in phases to ensure an orderly process. The second batch of pilgrims is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, followed by a third group on Friday. The final contingent is expected back in Kwara State on June 14.
Abdulkadir said all pilgrims from the state successfully completed the Hajj rites and remain in good health and high spirits.
"We are grateful for a successful pilgrimage and thankful that our pilgrims are returning safely," he said.
The Chairman of the board, Mashood Mahmud-Jimba, praised AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for supporting the state's Hajj operations, noting that the governor's assistance contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage exercise.
Mahmud-Jimba also assured families and relatives of the pilgrims that adequate arrangements have been made to facilitate a seamless reception process upon arrival.
The board said it will continue to provide updates as additional groups of pilgrims return from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the coming days.
