Japan and Saudi Arabia are continuing to expand their long-standing partnership through economic cooperation, infrastructure development, and diplomatic engagement, according to Japan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Morino Yasunari.
Writing for the Kasumigaseki Foreign Service Association, Ambassador Morino said both countries are strengthening ties under the framework of the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 initiative. The partnership promotes collaboration in key sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure while supporting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its economy.
Saudi Arabia is accelerating development in non-oil industries such as gaming, tourism, and entertainment as it prepares to host major international events, including the Riyadh Expo and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Morino highlighted a series of high-level exchanges between officials from both nations. These include discussions between Japanese and Saudi foreign ministers, as well as talks focused on energy security and economic cooperation involving government officials from both countries.
On regional issues, the ambassador noted that Saudi Arabia continues to support the Arab Peace Initiative and the establishment of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Japan has joined international efforts aimed at advancing a peaceful resolution through the implementation of the two-state framework.
He also praised Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic approach toward regional tensions, stating that the Kingdom has emphasized restraint and dialogue while engaging with major global powers, including the United States, Russia, and China, to promote stability and reduce conflict.
According to Morino, Saudi Arabia has intensified its diplomatic outreach across the Islamic world by hosting meetings of foreign ministers in Riyadh and participating in consultations with countries such as Pakistan, Egypt, and Türkiye.
The ambassador concluded that cooperation between Japan and Saudi Arabia is expected to grow further as both nations pursue shared economic, diplomatic, and development objectives in the years leading up to Vision 2030.
