Buratai Praises Tinubu Over N1.245 Trillion Gombe-Biu Highway Project

Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the N1.245 trillion dualisation of the Gombe-Biu Highway, describing it as a landmark infrastructure project for Nigeria's North-East region.

Buratai said the approval demonstrates the administration's commitment to infrastructure development and regional integration under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the highway, originally built in 1962, is a critical transport corridor that has long required modernization.

The project involves the reconstruction and dualisation of the 139-kilometre road using rigid pavement technology, a development expected to improve transportation, boost trade, and strengthen economic ties across the North-East.

According to Buratai, the upgraded highway will create economic opportunities for businesses and local communities by improving accessibility and reducing travel difficulties along the route.

He also praised the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the governors of Gombe State and Borno State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and Babagana Umara Zulum, for their support in advancing the project.

Beyond its economic benefits, Buratai emphasized the strategic importance of the highway for security and logistics. He said improved road infrastructure would enhance the movement of personnel, equipment, and supplies, contributing to efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the North-East.

Describing the project as a major investment in regional development, connectivity, and economic growth, Buratai urged residents and stakeholders to support its successful execution. He expressed confidence that the highway would deliver lasting socio-economic benefits to communities across the region and help accelerate development in the North-East.
