Kwankwasiyya Movement Denies Kwankwaso’s Alleged Threat to Quit NDC

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has dismissed reports claiming that its leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, threatened to leave the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) over disputes regarding candidate selection.

In a statement released by the group’s spokesperson, Habibu Mohammed, the movement described the reports as false and misleading, insisting that Kwankwaso has not expressed any intention to quit the party.

The group said neither Kwankwaso nor the Kwankwasiyya Movement has raised complaints about the replacement of candidates, contrary to speculation circulating in political circles.

Reports had suggested that the movement might exit the NDC following the substitution of some candidates earlier nominated by the bloc, allegedly breaching a power-sharing agreement within the party.

However, the spokesperson clarified that the party’s primaries were conducted on May 29 in line with electoral laws and guidelines, and that the results were duly affirmed.

He added that party stakeholders had previously agreed on a consensus arrangement where necessary and that all approved candidates were submitted without internal conflict.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement further stated that Kwankwaso has not formally communicated any grievance to the party regarding the matter, describing the controversy as unfounded speculation.
