Israel has announced plans to strengthen its partnership with Nigeria across key sectors including innovation, agriculture, healthcare, security, education, and skills development.
The Israeli ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, made this known during an event in Abuja marking Israel’s 78th independence anniversary.
Freeman said the expanded cooperation is not charity but a long-term investment in a shared future, adding that collaboration between Nigerian talent and Israeli technology could produce major economic and social benefits.
He highlighted areas such as entrepreneurship and agriculture, noting that joint programmes are already helping Nigerian innovators work with mentors from both countries to develop business solutions and create jobs.
According to him, Israeli companies are already active in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, and a new phase of cooperation is being planned for 2027 to further strengthen joint innovation efforts.
Nigeria’s Minister of Arts and Tourism, Hannatu Musawa, also welcomed the partnership, saying both countries share long-standing ties and a commitment to development. She added that Nigeria sees opportunities to expand collaboration in culture, tourism, and creative industries under President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda.
Both sides say the growing relationship aims to turn ideas into practical solutions that support economic growth, job creation, and improved public services in Nigeria.
