Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced that it launched 12 ballistic missiles at the US-operated al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, describing the attack as retaliation for recent US missile strikes on Iranian territory.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the IRGC said its Aerospace Force targeted facilities housing US military aircraft, including F-35, F-15, and F-16 fighter jets, as well as command-and-control infrastructure at the base. The group claimed the attack caused significant damage to military assets and installations.
The IRGC warned that its military operations would continue if what it described as hostile actions by the United States persist.
Separately, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said the country's armed forces remain prepared to respond to further military actions by the United States. The command claimed recent US operations had been met with a strong Iranian response.
Iranian military authorities also reported additional retaliatory operations targeting US military facilities across the region, including installations in Bahrain. According to Iranian statements, drone operations were conducted against facilities linked to the US Fifth Fleet.
The developments follow a sharp escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States after Washington reportedly carried out fresh military strikes on Iranian targets. Iranian officials described the attacks as a violation of an existing ceasefire agreement.
Independent verification of the extent of damage claimed by Iran was not immediately available, and US military authorities had not publicly confirmed the reported losses at the time of reporting.
The latest exchange marks a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Iran and the United States, raising concerns about wider regional instability across the Middle East.
