Iran launches missile strikes toward Israeli-controlled areas amid Lebanon tensions

Iranian armed forces reportedly carried out a missile barrage on Sunday targeting Israeli-controlled territories, according to Press TV.

The operation was described as a response to ongoing Israeli military actions in Lebanon, which Iran claims violate a ceasefire agreement and include strikes on civilian areas in Beirut’s southern suburbs and southern Lebanon.

Israeli media said air-raid sirens were activated in multiple northern and central areas, including Haifa, Nazareth, Safed, Tiberias, and the occupied Golan Heights. Israeli authorities reportedly placed air-defense systems on high alert and closed schools nationwide due to security concerns.

Iranian military leadership warned that further attacks on Lebanon could trigger additional “stronger” retaliatory strikes. Officials also accused Israel of escalating violence in Lebanon with alleged use of internationally banned weapons, claims that have not been independently verified in the report.

The statement further said Iran had previously warned it would respond militarily if attacks expanded into Beirut’s southern suburbs, and reiterated that continued escalation would lead to more severe consequences.
