The first batch of 560 pilgrims from Kwara State has returned safely to Ilorin after completing the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
The pilgrims arrived at Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport on Sunday at about 12:23 p.m. aboard a Max Air flight, accompanied by three officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Their arrival was confirmed in a statement by the press secretary of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Jumoke Jimoh.
Speaking after landing, several pilgrims expressed gratitude to God for a smooth and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
A senior pilgrim leader, Uthman Iyanda-Muhammad, described this year’s Hajj as “exceptional,” praising the Kwara State Government for improving welfare services, especially the provision of local meals.
Other pilgrims commended the board for effective arrangements covering accommodation, feeding, and transportation throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.
A female pilgrim, Rasheedat Saka, also appreciated the state government, noting that the exercise was well-organised and free of major challenges.
The pilgrims were welcomed by family members, friends, and well-wishers who gathered at the airport to celebrate their safe return.
The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board added that the second batch of pilgrims is expected to return on Tuesday, with all preparations already completed for their reception.
