Israel’s military says it is prepared to launch a forceful response to Iran following a missile attack, but is awaiting approval from the country’s political leadership.
Speaking during a high-level security assessment, Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said the military was ready to act once authorization is granted.
“The Israeli military will strike the enemy with force the moment the green light is given,” Zamir said, according to remarks released by the army.
The statement came after Iran launched missile attacks targeting Israel on Sunday evening, further escalating tensions between the two regional rivals.
Despite military preparations, Israel has not yet carried out a retaliatory strike. Reports indicate that the government is weighing its options amid international efforts to prevent a wider conflict.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump reportedly urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid an immediate military response, calling for restraint to reduce the risk of further escalation.
The situation remains highly volatile, with regional and international leaders closely monitoring developments amid concerns that any new military action could trigger a broader conflict in the Middle East.
