Iran has cautioned that countries supporting the United States could be held accountable if tensions with Tehran escalate further, amid ongoing disputes with Washington and its allies.
The warning was issued by Iran’s mission to the United Nations in a post on X, where it accused the US of attempting to build international backing for what it described as politically motivated actions against Iran.
According to the statement, nations that co-sponsor or support such initiatives could share responsibility for any resulting consequences if the situation worsens, alongside Washington.
Iran also criticized the US for what it called unlawful policies and warned against providing diplomatic cover for military escalation in the Middle East.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi separately reiterated that threats and military pressure have failed in the past and would not succeed in the future.
He made the comments during a BRICS meeting in India, responding to renewed warnings from US and Israeli officials.
Tehran maintains that recent tensions stem from earlier military strikes and says it continues to prioritize its security interests while linking future negotiations to the lifting of sanctions and other conditions.
The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts struggle to make progress, with both sides holding firm positions on security and regional issues.
