Skytrax Names World’s Top Airlines as Europe Misses Out

A new global airline ranking by Skytrax has named ten airlines as five-star carriers for 2026, with no European airline making the prestigious list.

The annual ratings, published by the London-based aviation consultancy, recognised airlines from Asia and the Middle East for excellence in customer service, onboard comfort, airport experience, and operational consistency.

According to Skytrax, airlines are assessed through detailed evaluations of both airport and in-flight services rather than relying mainly on passenger reviews. Areas examined include cabin cleanliness, staff professionalism, seating quality, food and beverages, lounge services, and overall customer experience.

Among the airlines awarded the top five-star status were Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways and Korean Air.

Other airlines on the list included Japan Airlines, EVA Air, Hainan Airlines, Asiana Airlines and STARLUX Airlines.

Skytrax praised Singapore Airlines for continuing to “define the air travel experience,” while Qatar Airways maintained its long-standing reputation for premium service standards. Japanese and South Korean carriers were also commended for efficiency, professionalism, and consistency across cabin classes.

The report highlights the growing dominance of Asian and Middle Eastern airlines in global aviation rankings, especially in customer satisfaction and luxury travel services.
