Lebanon’s Health Ministry says more than 3,000 people have been killed in Israeli strikes since fighting between Israel and Hezbollah escalated in March.
Officials reported that the death toll reached 3,020 on Monday despite a fragile ceasefire agreement that was recently extended by 45 days.
The conflict intensified after Hezbollah launched rockets into Israel following an Israeli strike that killed Iran’s supreme leader. Since then, both sides have continued exchanging attacks, with hundreds reportedly killed even after the ceasefire took effect in April.
Israeli air strikes have continued across southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, while Hezbollah says it has carried out drone and rocket attacks targeting Israeli military positions.
Lebanese authorities accuse Israel of violating the truce and undermining efforts to restore state control over armed groups, while Israel says its operations are aimed at preventing Hezbollah military activity near the border.
Israeli ground troops also remain stationed in parts of southern Lebanon seized during the conflict, as negotiations to preserve the ceasefire are expected to resume in June.
