At least 22 people were killed in Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon within 24 hours, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, despite an extended 45-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
The ministry said the death toll since fighting resumed on March 2 has now risen to 3,042.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that several deadly strikes occurred on Tuesday. In Kfar Sir, an Israeli airstrike destroyed a home in the al-Mahfara area, killing four people and injuring two others.
In Harouf, a drone strike targeted a vehicle near the municipal building, killing one person and injuring others, including a local official. Another drone attack in Froun near Bint Jbeil reportedly killed a motorcyclist.
Authorities also accused Israeli forces of firing phosphorus bombs near farmers harvesting watermelons in the Tyre district, though no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops reportedly established a checkpoint at the Mari-Halta junction, where three Lebanese citizens were detained and their phones confiscated.
Reporting from Tyre, Al Jazeera correspondent Zeina Khodr said many residents believe the ongoing bombardment is aimed at forcing civilians out of southern Lebanon through continuous destruction and displacement.
Later on Tuesday, the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for residents in 12 towns and villages across southern Lebanon, signaling the possibility of further military operations.
