Danjuma Donates N3bn, Dangote Gives N500m At Gowon Autobiography Launch

Former Nigerian Defence Minister Theophilus Danjuma donated ₦3 billion on Tuesday during the unveiling of former Head of State Yakubu Gowon’s autobiography in Abuja.

The event also saw billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote contribute ₦500 million in support of the book launch, while businessman Abdul Samad Rabiu bought copies of the autobiography worth ₦25 million.

The memoir, titled My Life of Duty and Allegiance, contains 20 chapters detailing Gowon’s life, military career, and years in public service.

Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu at the ceremony held in Abuja.

Catholic Bishop Matthew Kukah reviewed the autobiography during the event.

Danjuma, who served as chief presenter, was represented by retired General Martin Luther Agwai. In addition to the ₦3 billion donation, he directed that 12 copies of the book be distributed to libraries in each of the 20 universities that awarded Gowon honorary doctorate degrees.
