Yobe Deputy Governor Explains Why He Built 50 Mosques, Married Off 10 Orphans

The Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana, has explained the motivation behind his recent humanitarian and religious interventions, which include the construction of 50 mosques and the sponsorship of marriages for 10 female orphans.

Speaking on the initiatives, Gubana said the projects were carried out as part of his commitment to serving humanity, supporting vulnerable people, and giving back to society through faith-based charity.

Building 50 Mosques:

According to him, the construction of the mosques was aimed at:

Strengthening Islamic worship across communities

Making places of prayer more accessible, especially in rural areas

Promoting unity and religious education among Muslims

Encouraging stronger spiritual development in society.

He noted that supporting places of worship remains one of the most rewarding forms of charity in Islam.

Marriage Support for 10 Orphans:

The deputy governor also revealed that he facilitated the marriages of 10 female orphans who had been under his care and educational support.

He explained that the initiative was intended to:

Provide stability and protection for the young women

Ensure they transition into family life with dignity

Support their well-being after losing parental care.

He added that the beneficiaries were carefully guided and supported in line with their readiness for marriage.

Support for Over 1,400 Orphans:

Gubana further disclosed that his foundation currently supports more than 1,400 orphans, offering:

Welfare and basic needs support

Empowerment programmes aimed at long-term independence.

He said the foundation’s mission is to uplift vulnerable children and help them become responsible members of society.
