Ma’ariful Qur’an – App Description.
Ma’ariful Qur’an is one of the most respected and widely used Tafsir (exegesis) of the Holy Qur’an in English. Originally written in Urdu by the renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Muhammad Shafi (رحمه الله), it has become a valuable reference for both scholars and general readers due to its clear and simple explanations.
The English translation, supervised by his son Mufti Taqi Usmani, brings this عظیم work to a global audience. The Tafsir is presented in eight volumes, covering the complete Qur’an, and includes an important introduction to Qur’anic sciences.
Background of the Tafsir.
The origin of Ma’ariful Qur’an dates back to 1954, when Mufti Muhammad Shafi began delivering weekly radio lectures on Radio Pakistan. These lectures, broadcast every Friday, explained selected verses of the Qur’an in an easy and accessible manner.
Due to their popularity, listeners from around the world requested that these lectures be compiled into a book. The author later expanded and revised them, eventually completing the full Tafsir in eight volumes (around 7,000 pages) despite health challenges.
