1. Forgiveness and Mercy.

Arabic:

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Transliteration:

Rabbana ẓalamnā anfusanā wa illam taghfir lanā wa tarḥamnā lanakūnanna minal-khāsirīn

Meaning:

“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.” (7:23)

2. Guidance and Firmness.

Arabic:

رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا

Transliteration:

Rabbana lā tuzigh qulūbanā ba‘da idh hadaytanā

Meaning:

“Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us…” (3:8).

3. Good in This World and Hereafter

Arabic:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration:

Rabbana ātinā fid-dunyā ḥasanah wa fil-ākhirati ḥasanah wa qinā ‘adhāban-nār

Meaning:

“Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (2:201)

4. Patience and Victory.

Arabic:

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا

Transliteration:

Rabbana afrigh ‘alaynā ṣabran wa thabbit aqdāmanā

Meaning:

“Our Lord, pour upon us patience and make our steps firm…” (2:250)

5. Knowledge and Wisdom

Arabic:

رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Transliteration:

Rabbi zidnī ‘ilmā

Meaning:

“My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (20:114).

6. Acceptance of Deeds

Arabic:

رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Transliteration:

Rabbana taqabbal minnā innaka Antas-Samī‘ul-‘Alīm

Meaning:

“Our Lord, accept from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (2:127)

7. Mercy for Parents

Arabic:

رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Transliteration:

Rabbi irḥamhumā kamā rabbayānī ṣaghīrā

Meaning:

“My Lord, have mercy upon them as they raised me when I was small.” (17:24).

8. Light and Forgiveness

Arabic:

رَبَّنَا أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا

Transliteration:

Rabbana atmim lanā nūranā waghfir lanā

Meaning:

“Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us…” (66:8)

Important Note.

The word “Allahumma” is commonly used in Hadith and general du‘ā,

While the Qur’an mostly uses “Rabbana” and “Rabbi”—which carry the same meaning: calling upon Allah directly.
