Al-Qunoot (القنوت) is an Islamic supplication (du’a) made in prayer, especially during Witr prayer or in times of distress and calamity. The word “Qunoot” literally means obedience, humility, or standing in devotion. In the context of prayer, it refers to a special invocation recited while standing, usually before the bowing (ruku’) in Witr prayer.
Here is the Dua Qunoot in Arabic, Transliteration and English translation.
Transliteration:
Allahumma ihdini feeman hadayt,
wa ‘aafini feeman ‘aafayt,
wa tawallani feeman tawallayt,
wa baarik li feema a’tayt,
wa qini sharra ma qadayt,
fa innaka taqdee wa laa yuqdaa ‘alayk,
innahu laa yadhillu man waalayt,
wa laa ya’izzul man ‘aadayt,
tabaarakta Rabbanaa wa ta’aalayt,
nastaghfiruka wa natubu ilayk.
English Translation:
O Allah! Guide me among those You have guided,
and grant me health among those You have granted health,
and take me into Your care among those You have taken into Your care,
and bless me in what You have given,
and protect me from the evil You have decreed.
Indeed, You decree and none can decree over You.
None whom You befriend can be humiliated,
and none whom You take as an enemy can be honored.
Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.
We seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.
