Sisi and Mohammed bin Salman Seek Greater Red Sea Maritime Security

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have stressed the importance of ensuring the freedom and security of navigation through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea.

The two leaders discussed the issue during talks on Tuesday, according to Egypt’s presidency.

Sisi also expressed Egypt’s support for Saudi Arabia’s measures aimed at protecting its security and stability.

The Egyptian president further backed efforts to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the crisis in Yemen.

The Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a major international maritime route linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and the wider Indian Ocean, making security in the area important for global shipping and trade.
