The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reaffirmed the credibility and reliability of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, urging candidates, parents and the general public to disregard unverified claims questioning the accuracy of the results.
In a statement issued by its Public Affairs Department on Thursday, WAEC said the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates was conducted in accordance with established examination procedures, relevant educational policies and quality-assurance standards, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.
The examination body said every candidate’s script undergoes several stages of marking, moderation and auditing before results are released. It added that the process is guided by standardised marking schemes and supervised by qualified subject experts to ensure fairness and accuracy.
WAEC acknowledged concerns raised on social media over the recently released results, noting that anxiety about examination performance was understandable, particularly among students seeking admission into the next stage of their education.
However, the council warned candidates and the public against relying on unverified information circulating online.
WAEC also stated that it has established official channels through which candidates, parents and other stakeholders can submit complaints or seek clarification regarding their results.
The council urged anyone with concerns about the 2026 WASSCE results to contact WAEC directly through its offices nationwide or its verified online communication channels rather than relying on social media speculation.
WAEC reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examinations and protecting the interests of all candidates.
