Veteran Journalist, Ibadan Chief Lekan Alabi Dies at 76.

Veteran journalist and respected Ibadan chief, Chief Lekan Alabi, has died at the age of 76.

Alabi, who held the traditional title of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, passed away on Saturday morning in Lagos.

His death was announced in a statement by Adeola Oloko, the media aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

According to the statement, Chief Alabi was a distinguished journalist and served as press secretary to several former governors of Oyo State during his career.

"The Abese Olubadan passed away this morning in Lagos at the age of 76. He will be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites," the statement said.

Chief Lekan Alabi was widely respected for his contributions to journalism, public service, and the preservation of Ibadan's cultural heritage. His passing has been described as a great loss to Oyo State and Nigeria.

More details are expected to be released by the family and traditional authorities.
