The United Kingdom Government has announced that applications for the 2026 Chevening Scholarships will officially open on August 4, 2026, giving Nigerians and other eligible candidates the opportunity to pursue a fully funded one-year master's degree at universities across the UK.
According to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the application window will remain open until October 6, 2026. The scholarship is designed for professionals who have demonstrated leadership potential and are committed to making a positive impact in their communities.
Funded by the UK Government and partner organisations, the Chevening Scholarship covers full tuition fees, monthly living expenses, return airfare, travel allowances, and access to an extensive global network of professionals and alumni.
The programme, established in 1983, has supported more than 60,000 scholars from over 140 countries and territories, many of whom now hold leadership positions in government, business, academia, and civil society.

Register through the Nigeria country page.
Complete the eligibility check.
Fill in personal, academic, and professional information.
Select three eligible UK master's degree programmes.
Submit details of two referees.
Complete the required essays on leadership, networking, study plans, and career goals.
Submit their application before the October 6, 2026 deadline.
Applicants are advised to prepare their essays in advance and save their progress regularly while completing the online application.
