Troops Recover Remains of Abducted Imo Community Leader from Forest Grave.

Troops of Operation UDO KA have recovered the remains of a community leader, Chief Ibe Anyadu of Aggah Community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, from a shallow grave in Umudike Forest.

The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 82 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the Army, the breakthrough followed intelligence obtained from suspects arrested during ongoing operations against violent criminal groups in the South-East.

One of the suspects allegedly confessed to taking part in the abduction and killing of Chief Anyadu and subsequently led troops to the burial site, where the victim's remains were exhumed on August 2, 2026.

The exhumation was witnessed by members of the deceased's family, local vigilante operatives from Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, and representatives of the Aggah and Umudike communities.

The Army said the victim's family provided a coffin and an ambulance to ensure a dignified burial in line with local customs and traditions.

Military authorities added that the arrests were made during intelligence-led operations that also resulted in the apprehension of suspects linked to the killing of a Nigerian Army soldier and the recovery of stolen service weapons.
