Vice President Kashim Shettima has appealed to well-wishers and supporters to refrain from placing congratulatory advertisements in newspapers or broadcasting celebratory messages on radio, television and digital platforms ahead of his 60th birthday.
Shettima, who will turn 60 on September 2, made the appeal on Saturday in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.
The Vice President said he wanted the milestone to be observed quietly, stressing that public attention should remain focused on national development rather than personal celebrations.
He specifically requested that there should be no public birthday celebrations, congratulatory gatherings or goodwill advertisements across print, broadcast and digital media.
Instead, Shettima urged his well-wishers to channel their goodwill into prayers for Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He called for prayers for the success of the administration’s economic reforms, lasting solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges, greater national unity, and peace and prosperity for Nigerians.
Shettima said his birthday should be an opportunity for reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment to serving the country rather than an elaborate personal celebration.
