At least seven Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, according to local medical sources, as violence continues despite a ceasefire that took effect last October.
Three Palestinians were killed and several others injured when an Israeli strike hit a home in Beit Lahiya, near Kamal Adwan Hospital, on Tuesday, according to a source at al-Shifa Hospital.
Earlier, a drone strike targeted a gathering of civilians in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, killing one man and injuring three others.
Three more Palestinians later died from injuries sustained in previous Israeli attacks on Khan Younis. Two of them were wounded during an attack on Monday, while the third had suffered injuries about two weeks earlier.
Meanwhile, an Israeli air strike overnight destroyed a warehouse containing nutritional supplies intended for children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) said the explosion caused large parts of the building, including its roof and walls, to collapse, burying the supplies under the rubble. The entire stock was reportedly damaged and rendered unsuitable for human consumption.
The warehouse belonged to Ard El Insan, a local humanitarian organisation working with MAP to support about 60 medical centres serving up to 100 women and children each day.
Sahar Salem, the organisation’s project coordinator, said the destruction of the supplies would seriously affect efforts to provide assistance to vulnerable women and children.
She added that humanitarian workers, facilities and essential supplies must be protected, noting that two of her colleagues had been killed and another injured since the beginning of the war.
Gaza Faces Critical Oxygen Shortage
Gaza’s Ministry of Health has also warned of a possible collapse of essential services due to severe shortages of oxygen.
Dr Munir al-Bursh, the ministry’s director-general, said only 12 of Gaza’s approximately 34 oxygen stations remain operational.
He warned that any further breakdown could leave critically ill patients without oxygen.
“If the oxygen supply stops, these people will die,” he said, stressing that doctors should not be forced to decide which patients receive oxygen and which do not.
The continued attacks and reported ceasefire violations have occurred despite US President Donald Trump’s call for Israel to stop its attacks in Gaza.
Trump said in an interview on August 17 that Israel “should not be striking in Gaza” and claimed that Hamas had agreed to surrender its weapons under a US-backed peace plan.
